The Last Ship to Leave Earth

The last ship to leave Earth had two passengers: the last of the humans and an android. Dr. Anderson had delayed their departure until the last possible moment. It was hard to say goodbye to the planet.

The ship took off at night. Through the window of the cabin both passengers watched the city below grow smaller.

“I wonder for how long the city lights will stay on,” said the doctor.

“Probably as long as the machines keep running.”

The night the last ship left Earth marked the beginning of year 1 of the Robot Republic.
