Mind Reading at a Funeral

Jon was at his mother’s funeral when he received the incoming message from his servo-assistant.

“I am getting rid of all your mother memorabilia,” said the robot ”I’ve put her house on the market. I’ll donate her personal effects and burn all her letters to you.”

“I’m sure all that can wait, Archie.” said Jon into his headset.

“It can… But I’ll go ahead anyways.”

“Don’t burn her letters though. I like reading them.”

“No you don’t.”

Jon stood in silence a few feet away from the casket. He watched the incinerator door slide open. Not only Archie could read his mind, he also wasn’t afraid of what he found there. The flames engulfed the casket and Jon’s face lighted up.
